FANNIE LOU HAMER INTERNSHIP/EXTERNSHIP PROGRAM

For the past seven (7) years, the Center has trained law, university and high school students through its Fannie Lou Hamer Internship/Externship Program. The program, nationally recognized, is named in honor of civil rights activist and leader Fannie Lou Hamer who stood up against oppression and brutality across the state of Mississippi and U.S., challenging America to end racism and discrimination.

Each school term (Winter, Spring and Summer), the program selects students interested in civil rights and human rights to devote their time to working on issues ranging from worker mistreatment and fair housing to racial justice.

Intern assignments include: conducting research, interviewing clients, attending community and organizing meetings and conducting fair housing inspections.
